EU considers sustainability requirements for all financial products

The European Commission announced last week that it plans to launch a consultation on guidelines for sustainable financial disclosure. In this context, it is asking for feedback on the potential introduction of requirements for sustainability-related disclosures for all financial products available in the EU, even if these products do not make any sustainability claims.

The focus of this consultation is on the Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR). This regulation dictates how financial market participants, such as asset managers, must share sustainability information with investors. This involves the integration of sustainability risks and taking into account potentially adverse sustainability impacts in their operations, as well as providing information on the sustainability aspects of financial products.
