Iconic Zandkasteel in Amsterdam begins ESG journey with Blue Module partnership
The iconic Zandkasteel building in Amsterdam takes significant steps towards sustainability by initiating comprehensive ESG reporting in collaboration with Blue Module, an independent provider of advanced ESG reporting software solutions.
This partnership enables Zandkasteel to transparently and objectively report on its performance in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) areas.
The former bank office, transformed into a modern mixed-use building with residential spaces, office areas, an international school, and hospitality venues, is leading the real estate sector by embracing the value of ESG reporting.
Wonam and Zadelhoff, the owners of Zandkasteel, view ESG not merely as a regulatory obligation but as a tool to create sustainable value for tenants, investors, and other stakeholders. ESG helps them demonstrate how Zandkasteel’s redevelopment contributes to a sustainable future.
The ESG reports will significantly support reducing the building’s energy consumption and carbon emissions while enhancing the health and well-being of its occupants.
Robert Kohsiek, Director of Wonam, emphasizes the importance of ESG:
"ESG for us is not a 'tick-the-box' exercise but a strategic tool for creating long-term value. This is essential for our stakeholders, including tenants and financiers, as well as the broader community. Just like a financial report, we can now offer an ESG report and continuously report on the building."
Technological Support from Blue Module
Blue Module’s independent software enables Zandkasteel to report its ESG performance in accordance with international standards such as Fitwel, WELL, and BREEAM. These standardized reports offer tenants and investors insights into the building's environmental impact and societal contribution. Thanks to this technology, Zandkasteel can objectively demonstrate how it performs in terms of sustainability, health, and well-being.
Paul Wessels, Founder and CEO of Blue Module, on the partnership:
"Our mission is to elevate ESG transparency through technology. Our independent and standardized software solutions enable Zandkasteel to meet the highest standards in sustainability and accountability. Together, we can create sustainable value for all stakeholders."
